Live jazz and swing night with the Dave Sear Quartet at Cherry Reds in Birmingham city centre.
Dave Sear brings his quartet to Upstairs at Cherry Reds on Wednesday 28 October, for a night of live jazz in the city centre. Sear is one of the UK's leading trombonists, and he's leading the quartet here, with the set sitting in the jazz and swing repertoire.
It's a proper evening's music rather than a short set — the bill runs for two and a half hours, so there's plenty of room for the quartet to work through the material. The focus is on the jazz and swing traditions, the kind of music that lets the trombone take centre stage and gives the rest of the quartet space to build around it. If you're into that side of things, it's a good length of time to settle in.
The venue is Upstairs at Cherry Reds, at 88-90 John Bright Street in Birmingham City Centre. It's a mid-week one, so it's a good shout if you're looking for something to do on a Wednesday night without having to venture far from the centre.
