Immersive concert by The Mystery Ensemble of the music of Danny Elfman from the films of Tim Burton.
Mystery Ensemble bring Tim Burton's Universe to The Bradshaw Hall at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on Friday 23 October, a concert built around the music of Danny Elfman. Elfman has been Burton's lifelong collaborator and is one of the most distinctive film composers of our time; his work blends playfulness with menace and tenderness with grandeur in a way that mirrors Burton's own visual imagination.
The set pulls from a long list of their joint projects. You'll hear themes from Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice, Batman and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Mystery Ensemble performs the material in original arrangements, leaning into the gothic sweep and eccentric brilliance of the saga with soaring voices and bold instrumental colours.
The show is part of a series of immersive musical experiences by Red Events & Distribution Ltd, who are known for candlelit concerts and fully immersive performances featuring video art and spatial sound design in atmospheric venues across the UK and beyond. Wheelchair users are entitled to a complimentary companion seat and assistance dogs are welcome.
