Intimate tribute to Joni Mitchell in which Jesca Hoop and Lail Arad sing her songs, with a special guest at each show.
The Songs of Joni Mitchell comes to The Castle & Falcon on Sunday 17 January 2027, with Jesca Hoop and Lail Arad leading the night. It's a tribute to Joni Mitchell, curated by Arad to mark Mitchell's 80th birthday, and it's built around the voices of artists she continues to inspire. Get In Her Ears called it 'a perfect celebration of Joni Mitchell'.
Hoop and Arad are both acclaimed singer-songwriters in their own right, and they each bring their own interpretations of their favourite Mitchell songs. Hoop is a Manchester-based Californian whose quirky folk carries an indie twist; she also presented Legend: The Joni Mitchell Story, the award-winning six-part BBC Radio documentary and podcast about Mitchell's life. Ahead of the show's last tour, the trio released a companion EP on Small Matter Records, The Songs Of Joni Mitchell Vol. 1.
There's a special guest performer at every show, so the line-up changes from night to night. Previous guests have included Kate Stables, Vashti Bunyan, Simon Armitage, Lisa Hannigan, Gail Ann Dorsey, Rachel Sermanni and Sam Amidon. The show had its debut at the Roundhouse in 2024, followed by two sold-out tours, and it returns in 2026.
