A live jazz and vocal tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong played by an ensemble of musicians and vocalists at The Castle & Falcon.
The Jazz Room is coming to The Castle & Falcon on Saturday 7 November, a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. It's a live ensemble of musicians and vocalists working through the songs of two of the most influential figures in jazz and crooning, and they're playing it in the low-light atmosphere of the venue's music room.
On the setlist are Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon and My Way, alongside Armstrong's What A Wonderful World and When You're Smiling, among others. The ensemble brings them to life with saxophones, trumpets and spontaneous improvisation, and the show runs for about an hour. It's an 18+ event, and seating is first-come, first-served, so if you're keen on a particular spot, it's worth arriving a bit early.
The Castle & Falcon is a historic pub in Balsall Heath, established in 1852 and renovated in 2017. Its music room holds 400 people, and the pub has long been a hub for the city's music scene, including its punk scene, while keeping its traditional Irish heritage and community feel. It's an independent venue, and this show fits right into that mix of old-school jazz and a local, unpretentious room.
