The Real People perform their classics and rarities in an intimate acoustic setting, with stories behind the songs and characters.
The Real People are back at The Actress & Bishop on Saturday 24 October, their first return to the venue since last year. This time it's an acoustic set, billed as 'An Evening with Chris & Tony', with brothers Chris and Tony Griffiths playing as a duo.
The set pulls from their back catalogue, with the classics and the rarities side by side. Between the songs, they'll be telling the stories behind the tracks and the characters they met along the way, so it's as much about the talk as the music. It's a stripped-back version of what they do, and it's an intimate one.
If you're not familiar with the name, the Griffiths brothers are often called the godfathers of Britpop. They're credited with having a huge influence on the development of Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene, and Alan McGee has acknowledged their mentorship of Oasis, pointing to 'Columbia', 'Rockin Chair' and 'Don't Go Away' as three Oasis songs with direct connections to The Real People. This show brings them back to The Actress & Bishop in an acoustic setting following a date at the venue the previous year.
