Live music night by the Midlands collective Urban Soul Family, celebrating Black History Month at The Actress & Bishop.
Urban Soul Family are playing The Actress & Bishop on Thursday 29 October, a night they've billed as a celebration of Black History Month. It's a live music evening in the heart of Birmingham, and the bill is headed by the collective themselves.
If you haven't come across them before, Urban Soul Family is a collective of musicians from across the Midlands. They've spent years working alongside some of the biggest names in the industry — Roger Daltrey of The Who and the Sugababes both make the list — and they've played stages as varied as Symphony Hall and the World Cup. Closer to home, they've headlined Birmingham's legendary Jam House and currently hold a joint Sunday residency at the award-winning Albert Schloss, so they're well-known on the city's circuit.
That residency at Albert Schloss is a good place to start if you want to get a feel for them before this one; it's a regular Sunday slot, and this date at The Actress & Bishop falls on a Thursday, so it's a different night of the week entirely. The whole evening is framed as a celebration of Black History Month, and Urban Soul Family are the main feature.

The night runs from 7:30pm to 11:00pm at The Actress & Bishop, so it's a full evening of live music rather than a quick set. If you're planning to go, keep in mind it's a Thursday night in the city centre, not a weekend date. You can find more details and tickets on the venue's website.
