Award-winning group of vocal and instrumental hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s at Cartlands Tea Rooms.
The new Out Of The Shadows are playing Cartlands Tea Rooms on Sunday 6 December, a matinee that starts at 14:30. It's presented by King's Heath Walk Of Fame, and the group is an award-winning one, so they're coming in with a bit of a reputation behind them.
What they do is straightforward: vocal and instrumental hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s. That's three decades of popular music to pull from, and the set covers both the singing and the playing, so you'll hear the songs and the instrumental versions alongside each other. It's the kind of afternoon that works as well for a casual listen as it does for anyone who knows their way around those years.
Because it's a matinee, it's an easy one to fit into a Sunday. The music kicks off at 14:30, so you're in and out well before the evening, with plenty of time left over for the rest of your day. It's a daytime slot that doesn't ask much of you, just a few hours of songs from the mid-century.
