The Monster Mash Halloween Party

The Monster Mash returns to The Night Owl on Saturday 31 October, the old-school Halloween night that's turned the Digbeth spot into a bit of a destination for the occasion. This year's edition pays tribute to the classic Universal Monsters that helped make Halloween what it is today, with an otherworldly makeover of the venue, cauldrons of specialist cocktails, and resident DJs spinning spooky retro anthems.

If you've been before, you'll know the venue goes all out with the decor. In previous years, they've transformed the rooms into the world of Stranger Things, Tim Burton-inspired wonderlands, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and they've even done their own 'A Nightmare on Trinity Street'. One particular party was built around the 50th anniversary of the horror film Carrie. This year, the focus shifts to the Universal Monsters—the kind of black-and-white era creatures that set the template for the whole thing.

It's a long night, running from 8:00pm right through to 4:00am, so you've got plenty of room to settle in. The resident DJs will be keeping the retro anthems going across the dancefloor, and the cocktails will be flowing from the cauldrons. It's the sort of night that works best if you lean into it, so dressing up is practically part of the deal.

Entry is £15, and you'll need to keep in mind that advance tickets have already sold out. That means entry on the door is limited and subject to capacity, so if you're planning on heading down, it's worth arriving early rather than leaving it late.
