Black History Month celebration with live R&B performance, fashion show, art exhibition and DJs, hosted by Laverne Major.
Laverne Major hosts The Major Experience - Rooted — Black History Month Edition at The Intimate Lounge & Bar on Saturday 17 October, a night she's framed as a Black History Month celebration of Black culture, creativity and confidence. It's built around her own live R&B performance, and she's the one running the whole thing.
There's more to it than just the music, though. The evening pulls together a fashion show and fashion sale, an art exhibition with a sip & paint, a Shake It Well cocktail mixing station and a 'Girl Code' ladies' empowerment experience. DJs will be playing throughout, so the music doesn't stop when she's not on stage. It's a long one, running from 4:00pm to 11:00pm, with doors opening at 3:55pm.
Laverne Major is an emerging R&B and soul artist, entrepreneur and brand ambassador, and she describes her artistry as rooted in emotion, femininity and real-life storytelling. She's now entering a new chapter as a recording artist, and this night brings together her interests in music, fashion, culture and female empowerment. She bills the whole thing as a stylish, grown and vibrant experience designed to look good, feel good and sound good, with a chance to discover independent brands and creative businesses.
