Interactive courtroom drama in which the audience serves as the jury and decides the verdict of Dr Frankenstein's trial.
The Jury Experience - Frankenstein on Trial: The Man Who Defied God comes to The Old Rep Theatre on Saturday 24 October, with two showings that afternoon and evening. It's an immersive courtroom drama that puts you in the jury box rather than the audience: you're sworn in, you hear the evidence, and you decide the verdict of a murder trial.
Dr Victor Frankenstein stands in the dock. His creation, assembled from human remains and brought to life through forbidden science, has already been convicted of murder, and the court has to decide whether Frankenstein himself should be held accountable for the deaths that followed his experiment. You'll weigh the evidence, hear testimony from the Creature, and vote at critical junctures, which shapes the narrative and means every show reaches a different outcome. The whole thing turns on one central moral dilemma: can a creator ever escape responsibility for what they bring into the world?
The Old Rep is a Grade II listed venue on Station Street in central Birmingham, known as the UK's first purpose-built repertory theatre. The show runs about an hour and is for ages 12 and over. Tickets are from £27.82 and are available only through the Fever app or website.
