A multi-award-winning tribute show celebrating the music of Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light Orchestra, recreating their songs and atmosphere with great accuracy.
The ELO Experience play The Alexandra on Friday 11 December, part of their 20th Anniversary Year Tour. They've been bringing Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light Orchestra's music to the stage since 2006, and this is a Birmingham original, so it's a local band playing a local theatre.
The set is a tribute to the original ELO, the Jeff Lynne-led band that ran from 1972 to 1986. They're known for blending rock rhythms with classical influences, and they've got a huge run of hits behind them — 'Mr Blue Sky', 'Don't Bring Me Down' and 'Evil Woman' are the big ones, and they're played alongside the deeper album cuts. The show recreates the songs, the light shows and the atmosphere of the original band, and it's built around that same mix of rock and strings that defined ELO's sound.
There's a bit of history to the original band too: between 1972 and 1986, Jeff Lynne's ELO racked up more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band. The tribute has been running for two decades now, and customer reviews give it an average of 4.9 stars.
