The Devil Wears Prada play the O2 Institute in Digbeth on Sunday 25 October, headlining a four-band bill that brings them back to Birmingham. They're touring their ninth full-length album, Flowers, released on Solid State, which they describe as a record that matches bold themes with equally bold songs and processes grief and struggle. It's the latest in a long run of releases that have seen them alternating crushing heaviness with heart-wrenching melodies for more than two decades.
They've built a fair bit of a track record along the way. Revolver named their 2009 album With Roots Above and Branches Below one of the '5 Greatest Metalcore Albums', and both the Zombie EP in 2010 and Dead Throne in 2011 debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. 2021's ZII was their sixth straight Top 5 entry on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart, with nearly half a billion streams. They followed that with Color Decay in 2022, which sold out their biggest shows worldwide and drew praise from Metal Hammer as possibly their finest hour.
On stage, the band is Mike Hranica, Jeremy DePoyster, Kyle Sipress, Jonathan Gering and Giuseppe Capolupo. They're from Dayton, Ohio, and they've spent twenty-plus years working that same contrast between the heavy and the melodic. Flowers is the newest chapter in that, and it's the record they're out touring right now.

They aren't the only ones on the bill. Support comes from Novelists, 156/Silence and Oversize, so there's a full evening of music before the headliners take over. Doors open at 18:00, and the curfew is 23:00, which gives plenty of room for the three opening acts to play their sets. The show is 14+.
