One-day pan-specialty conference on how technology, data and system design can make operating theatres safer, smarter and more sustainable.
Surgery Systems Live comes to The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham on Tuesday 24 November, a one-day, pan-specialty conference run by the Global Surgery Unit at the University of Birmingham. The whole day is built around one question: how technology, data and system design can make operating theatres safer, smarter and more sustainable.
The day splits into two strands. There's a Main Stage of keynotes, panels and evidence from national leaders in surgical systems, data and technology, and a hands-on Lab where you can get stuck into emerging kit with the people building it in the room. The core themes running through both are robotic surgery systems, laparoscopy, data science in surgery, digital surgery, wound closure and perioperative care with the environment.
It's a broad tent, and the audience reflects that. It's aimed at surgeons and trainees, anaesthetists, theatre teams, researchers, NHS leaders and industry, alongside anyone working on how the operating theatre functions as a whole. If you're in any of those roles, it's a chance to see where the kit and the systems are heading and to talk to the people driving it. Attendance carries 6.5 RCS England CPD points.
