Family pantomime ballet 'Sleeping Beauty', produced by Crossroads Pantomimes, with Rylan and dame Andrew Ryan, at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
Sleeping Beauty runs at the Birmingham Hippodrome from Saturday 19 December 2026 to Sunday 31 January 2027, taking over the Main Stage for the Christmas and New Year period. It's a family pantomime on the classic story: Princess Aurora is cursed by her wicked aunt Carabosse and pricked by a bewitched spinning wheel, sending her into a century of slumber. The show is produced by Crossroads Pantomimes, the world's biggest pantomime producer, and the sets and costumes come direct from The London Palladium.
There's a big name leading the cast: BAFTA award-winning presenter Rylan makes his Birmingham pantomime debut as the Diva of Dreams. He's joined by Matt Slack as Lester the Jester, Zoe Birkett as Carabosse, and Andrew Ryan as Queen Patsy of Pantoland, who's celebrating his tenth season in that role. Ben Culleton plays Prince Peter of Perry Barr, and Keziah Ibe takes on Princess Aurora. Culleton comes to the production fresh from playing Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady at Chichester Festival Theatre, the same show in which Ibe made her professional debut as Eliza Doolittle.
The cast gathered at Middleton Hall for the launch ahead of the run, and the show is billed as the UK's biggest regional pantomime. It's aimed at families, with age guidance from 5+ and under-3s not admitted.

Tickets start from £20, though the price changes depending on when you go: they're £34 to £55 during the Christmas week and drop to £20 to £34 from Wednesday 6 January. The run goes on through the end of January, so there's plenty of room to fit it in after the holidays.
