Third edition of the Secret Soirée, a night of music, poetry and ventriloquism with The Ceol Community Orchestra, a Halloween special, a jam session and a snack buffet.
The Secret Soirée returns to Kitchen Garden Café on Tuesday 27 October, its third edition at the venue. It's run by Ceol Creatives, and they describe it as a night that brings together musical, poetical and ventriloquistical talent, with a hint of a Halloween special aimed at lovers of art, music and good old-fashioned fun.
The evening leans on audience participation: there are campfire songs to join in with and a 'guess the theme tune' game played by the orchestra. The musical side of things is led by The Ceol Community Orchestra, with solos from Jeanne Jones, guitarist Mike Bethel and pianist Andrew Tayer. When the formal programme finishes, the night flows into the venue's (in)famous jam session, with jazz and Middle Eastern music on the go.

There's a bit of a sequence to the evening, so it helps to know the timings. Admission is through Fletchers Bar from 18:30, and the soirée itself runs from 19:00 to 20:00. A small snack buffet follows, and the jam session carries the night on until 21:30. Entry is £8, and the whole thing takes place at Kitchen Garden Café, 17 York Road, Birmingham.
