Comedy and drag extravaganza about Lily Savage, starring Danny Beard, written by Jonathan Harvey and directed by Nikolai Foster.
Savage comes to the Birmingham Hippodrome from Tuesday 20 April to Saturday 24 April 2027, with Danny Beard starring as Lily Savage. It's a new comedy and drag extravaganza about the 'Blonde Bombsite' herself, inspired by the life of Paul O'Grady and created with his blessing. The show follows Paul's journey from the working-class streets of Birkenhead and Merseyside to the heart of London's club scene, where he forged his fearless, foul-mouthed alter ego.
Jonathan Harvey wrote the script, and he's a multi-award-winning playwright known for Beautiful Thing, Coronation Street, and Gimme Gimme Gimme. Nikolai Foster directed it, with Kinky Boots and Legally Blonde on his record. Paul O'Grady, whose husband was Andre Portasio, spoke about the production: 'I'm delighted Jonathan has agreed to write the script, I really am, as he's perfect for this and he's such a great writer.'
It's a touring production that made its world premiere at Curve Leicester before heading across the UK and into London's West End, and it'll be on the Main Stage at the Hippodrome for its Birmingham run. Tickets start from £25.
