Blind wine tasting evening at Wayland's Yard where guests judge wines without brands or labels to decide if they are team Posh or team Plonk.
Posh vs Plonk is a blind tasting evening at Wayland's Yard on Friday 30 October, starting at 7:00pm. The whole point is to strip away everything that usually shapes how we judge wine — no brands, no prices, no labels — so you can just taste what's in the glass. You'll work your way through a line-up of wines, comparing the high-end bottles with the budget ones, and decide for yourself whether you're team Posh or team Plonk.
It's a blind tasting in the truest sense, so you won't know which is which until the reveal. If you've ever wondered if you can actually tell a £50 bottle from a £5 one, this is the night to find out. It's as much about discovering new favourites as it is about seeing if your palate holds up when the labels are gone.
Wayland's Yard is at 42 Bull Street, B4 6AF, and it's fully accessible. By day it's a busy café serving coffee and cakes, but by night it becomes the wine school's tasting venue. The school moved all its tastings here in March 2026, with the exception of the Wine & Cheese pairing events, so this is where most of their tasting nights happen now.
