Night of live music and dance at The Night Owl, the Digbeth bar with a retro Northern Soul and Motown vibe.
Platform LIVE launches at The Night Owl on Monday 26 October, a new night celebrating creative talent with live music and dance. The first bill is a Creative Showcase, so it's a mixed one rather than a single act taking the stage. The Night Owl is in Digbeth, and if you haven't been, it's a bar that bills itself as the Midlands' only Northern Soul and Motown venue. The interior is proper retro: a chest-of-drawers bar, a disco glitter ball, and 70s-inspired backdrop and furniture throughout.
It's run hands-on by Annabel Monkhouse, and the place is set up to welcome all ages and tastes. The music there doesn't stop at Northern Soul, either; it runs from drum and bass to metal and pop, and has hosted themed nights like a Bowie Night and Heart of Soul with Ben Sherman. That broad approach fits a night like Platform LIVE, which brings together music and dance under one roof rather than sticking to one or the other.
