Murkage Dave

Murkage Dave plays Hare And Hounds Kings Heath on Sunday 25 October, with the night running from 19:30 to 23:00. He's an East London pop singer who's spent the last decade making music that doesn't fit neatly into any one genre box, drawing on indie, outsider art and a strong instinct for storytelling. He's built a cult following along the way and picked up praise from Pharrell Williams, Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 6 Music and publications like The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Clash, Complex, Highsnobiety and Vogue.

Much of that work comes together on his album Brut Thoughts, which connects the inner turbulence of modern life with the fractured world around it. It looks at internet culture, overstimulation, the immigrant experience, political extremism and the power of community, and it's the kind of record that gives you a good sense of where he's coming from. If you've come across his name before but haven't heard the full thing, that's a useful place to start before seeing him live.

It's a single-name bill, so the night is built around his set. Tickets start from £18.10 via Skiddle, and the show runs from 19:30 to 23:00 at Hare And Hounds, 106 High Street, Kings Heath, B14 7JZ.
