Major Toms bring to life classic and deeper cuts from the back catalogue of David Bowie in an electrifying celebration of his Glam era and beyond.
Major Toms are back at Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 17 October, their first return to the venue since their last visit sold out quickly. They're a David Bowie tribute act, and the set is built around the back catalogue of the man they call the 'chameleon of rock'.
What they cover spans a fair chunk of Bowie's career. The set works through the era-defining Ziggy Stardust, the Berlin Trilogy, Aladdin Sane and The Thin White Duke — what the band describe as 'Glam era Bowie and beyond'. It's not just the well-known stuff, either; they bring to life the classics alongside the deeper cuts from across the catalogue.
They describe the show as an 'electrifying celebration' of Bowie's work, and the range of material they pull from — from the glitter of the early seventies to the more experimental Berlin years — gives you a good sense of how much ground he covered. If you're familiar with those records, you'll recognise the eras they're working through; if you're not, it's a decent way to hear the different phases of his output in one night.
