Stand-up show by Maisie Adam, the Edinburgh Fringe finalist from North Yorkshire, at Birmingham Town Hall.
Maisie Adam brings her new show Whatsherface to Birmingham Town Hall on Thursday 5 November, starting at 7:30pm. It's her latest tour, coming on the back of her appearances on Taskmaster, A League Of Their Own and Last One Laughing.
The title Whatsherface comes from a description her best friend's mum gave her at a wedding: 'the tall, chaotic one with the weird hair'. It's a fitting starting point for a comic whose career has been built on a certain kind of high-energy, slightly off-kilter presence. If you've seen her on telly lately, this is the live version of that.
She didn't take the slow route into stand-up. She first tried it in October 2016 in her native North Yorkshire, stepping straight into a full hour for her first gig. A couple of months later she entered So You Think You're Funny, won the Edinburgh semi-final and then the final at the end of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe, becoming only the fourth woman to do so in 30 years. She returned the following year with her debut show Vague, which sold out the Gilded Balloon, earned her a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won her the Amused Moose National New Comic, before being picked up by the Soho Theatre for a January 2019 run.
