Stand-up show by Britain's Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy, a Geordie comedian with cerebral palsy, at The Door.
Lost Voice Guy brings his show The Cerebral Palsy Puppet to The Door at the Birmingham Rep on Thursday 8 April 2027. He's a Geordie with cerebral palsy who takes to the stage armed with his iPad and no filter, and the set doesn't shy away from the personal. He goes after talent shows, dating disasters, Jehovah's Witnesses and the hold music of the Department for Work and Pensions.
He's the first comedian to win Britain's Got Talent, a victory that brought years of media scrutiny and public misunderstanding. He's been congratulated in the street for winning The X Factor, accused of having a 'backstage comedian' writing his jokes, and told he must live in a mansion at the taxpayer's expense — which he insists is a castle. Much of the material comes from that gap between how he's seen and who he actually is.
He's a familiar face on the circuit, with appearances on Live at the Apollo, The Last Leg and the Royal Variety Performance, and he's heard on his Radio 4 sitcom Ability. The reviews tend to agree on the tone: The Guardian called him funny, personal and mischievous; The Times said he sharply deals with misconceptions about his disability; and The Independent called him occasionally shocking. It's a show that leans into the awkward and the uncomfortable, so it's strictly 16+.
