Lizzy McAlpine brings her 'The Over Country Tour' to the O2 Academy Birmingham in support of her album 'Angel'.
Lizzy McAlpine plays the O2 Academy Birmingham on Wednesday 7 April 2027, as part of The Over Country Tour, a run of headline dates in support of her fourth album, Angel. It's a proper tour around the new record, so the set will be built around it.
McAlpine writes, sings and produces her own work, and Angel is the record she's taking on the road. She describes it as a sonic expansion, drawing on 1970s Laurel Canyon folk and 21st-century indie. If that sounds familiar, it's because Laurel Canyon was the heart of the singer-songwriter scene in LA back then — think acoustic guitars, harmonies and a certain kind of West Coast warmth. The indie side brings it forward, and the two sit together rather than fighting for space.
There's a personal thread to the songs too. McAlpine wrote the album during a period of self-discovery, and she describes it as a chronicle of her return to herself. The themes are the ones most of us know well — love, heartbreak and the endurance of community and friendship. It's that kind of record that works as well on your own as it does in a room full of people.
