Youth HYROX fitness competition for athletes aged 8 to 15, with adapted runs and functional stations, as part of HYROX Birmingham.
HYROX Youngstars is coming to the NEC Birmingham on 31 October and 1 November, a new version of the HYROX fitness race built for athletes aged 8 to 15. If you've seen the usual HYROX format, you'll know the drill: eight 1km runs paired with eight functional workout stations. Youngstars takes that same structure and scales it down for younger ages, with shorter distances and lighter weights, blending running with strength and coordination exercises drawn from functional training.
It's not about the podium here. The whole thing is fun-first rather than purely competitive, designed as a safe, inclusive, and accessible introduction to sport. It's aimed at families, schools, and youth sports clubs across the UK, with age categories from U10 up to U18. Each category has its own adapted distances and weights, so the challenge fits the age group rather than forcing everyone into the same mould. There's also a family-friendly setup on the day, with bag drop and locker services to make the logistics a bit easier when you're hauling a crowd of kids and gear.
Youngstars is part of HYROX Birmingham, one of the brand's largest UK events, which opens the 2026/27 season at the NEC with six days of racing across Open, Pro, Doubles, and Relay divisions. That means the Youngstars races are just one part of a much bigger weekend of activity, so if you're already heading down for the main event, this is a good way to get the younger ones involved too.
