Acoustic blues, folk and rock & roll session by the duo Drifter, featuring Dave Small and Danny Gee.
Drifter play an acoustic set at Joe Joe Jims on Sunday 13 December, a pairing of multi-instrumentalist and singer Dave Small and guitarist Danny Gee. The two know each other well — they both come from Arcadia Roots — and the set they've put together mixes covers with their own original compositions. Among the covers are Richie Havens' 'Freedom' and Muddy Waters' 'Hoochie Coochie Man', and the whole thing draws on influences that stretch from the blues to world music.
Small is no stranger to the Joe Joe Jims stage, having played there before with Arcadia Roots and The Mat Woosey Band. The two describe their musical connection as something that was instant, deep, and almost telepathic from the start. After a break, they're getting back to it, back to basics, and back to the blues where it all began for them.
