Brother Strut return to Birmingham to launch their fifth studio album on the UK funk and soul circuit.
Brother Strut are back in Birmingham at the Hare & Hounds on Thursday 15 October, one of eight dates on their Something's Cookin' UK tour. The run is an album launch party for their fifth studio record, so the set will be built around the new material. It's a soul and funk six-piece, and the tour is their way of taking the new album out on the road.
If you haven't come across them, the band was founded by Stevie Jones and is played by seasoned session musicians who've worked on hundreds of hit records. Between them, they've performed with Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse, Sting, Van Morrison, Herbie Hancock, Green, Tina Turner, Alicia Keys, The Temptations and Ramsey Lewis, and they've collectively sold over half a billion records. They made headlines after selling out KOKO twice using only short videos and Facebook ads, and the current lineup includes two members of Jamiroquai.
Something's Cookin' features Cory Wong, Elkie Brooks and John Thirkell, and the tour is the first time the songs are being played live. It's an eight-date run, so the Birmingham show is one of a handful of stops. And they aren't stopping there: 2026 also sees them back in the studio preparing new material, so this tour sits between the release of the fifth album and whatever comes next.
