Improvisation comedy show by Birmingham Improv at 1000 Trades.
Birmingham Improv are back with Spaghetti Junction at 1000 Trades on Wednesday 2 December. It's an improv comedy night, which means nothing is written in advance — the whole thing is made up on the spot, right there in front of you.
If you've never been to an improv show, the basic idea is that the performers take a suggestion from the audience — a word, a place, a weird scenario — and build a scene around it. Because it's all improvised, you're watching the comedy happen in real time, and no two nights ever end up the same. It's a different kind of night out from a stand-up set, where the jokes are polished and the timing is set; here, the fun is in seeing where the performers take things and how they handle the unexpected.
Spaghetti Junction is presented by Birmingham Improv, the group behind the show. The title itself is a nod to the city's most notorious stretch of motorway, so it's a night with a local name and a local crew at the helm. If you're already familiar with their work, you'll know the format they bring to the stage; if this is your first time, it's a good place to start with the city's improv scene.

The show runs on Wednesday 2 December, starting at 19:30 at 1000 Trades, one of the city's long-standing venues. It's a mid-week slot, so it works as a way to break up the working week rather than a weekend commitment. If you're in the mood for something that doesn't follow a script, that's the one.
