A night of improvised comedy with performers from the Midlands at 1000 Trades. Entry is free.
Birmingham Improv bring another Midlands Improv Night to 1000 Trades on Wednesday 21 October, starting at 7:30 PM. It's part of a recurring series of improv nights they run, and as the name suggests, the bill draws performers from across the Midlands rather than just the city centre. Because the line-up changes each time, you'll get a different mix of people on stage than you would at a fixed residency.
They describe the night as "a different Smörgåsbord of improvised comedy joy every time", which is a fair way of putting it. Since nothing is scripted, the whole thing is made up on the spot, and because the performers come from different parts of the region, the energy shifts from one night to the next. It's a showcase rather than a single act, so you'll see a few different sets across the evening.
Birmingham Improv bills the nights as inclusive and welcoming, and they're open about why they do it: they want to add to the city's comedy scene and bring some fun to increasingly dark times. It's a low-pressure way to get into improv if you've never seen it live, and since it's a recurring thing, it's easy to keep coming back and seeing how the nights change.
