Free evening of improvised comedy with improv games, scenes and sketches, with a donation of £5 recommended, featuring the improv troupe Box of Frogs.
The Birmingham Improv Comedy Jam is back at 1000 Trades on Wednesday 28 October, with Box of Frogs as the night's resident guests. It's an evening of improvised comedy run by Birmingham Improv, Jon Trevor and 1000 Trades, and sits within the city's wider improv scene.
Box of Frogs are billed as Birmingham's premiere improv group, and they're the main feature of the night. They build high-octane improvised nonsense entirely from the audience's suggestions, so what they end up doing depends on what you throw at them. The rest of the evening follows a similar open format: you turn up, grab a drink, put your name in a hat and either take to the stage or simply watch the fun. The night alternates between improv games, improvised scenes, sketches and songs, and it's open to all comers.
That open-door approach is a big part of it. It's suitable for all levels of experience, including complete beginners, so you can get involved even if you've never stepped on a stage before. If you'd rather just sit back and watch, that works too. It's recommended for ages 16 and over.
