Live gig by East London singer Bel Cobain, whose music blends the influences of Pink Floyd and Kate Bush, at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
Bel Cobain plays Hare And Hounds Kings Heath on Thursday 22 October, with the music starting at 19:30. She's an enigmatic singer from East London whose sound draws on the likes of Pink Floyd and Kate Bush, and this is a headline show with her as the sole bill.
She first appeared in 2019 with Introverted Stoner, and followed it up with her debut EP, Radical Forgiveness, in 2023. Since then she's played a fair few stages across Europe, including Glastonbury, Love Saves The Day, Love Supreme, Jazz Cafe and the Roundhouse. Her work is noted for a radical ethos and poetic lyricism, and she's drawn attention from i-D, Vogue, The Line of Best Fit and Clash, as well as a 6Music Maida Vale Session hosted by Giles Peterson.
Cobain describes her music as being inspired by nature and handcrafted things, and her lyrics challenge societal and political norms. She's spoken about wanting to sing without the trappings of fame, and that desire sits close to the surface of the songs. The set will pull from her recordings, and given the range of stages she's played, it's a good chance to hear her in a more focused setting.
