Annual conference for West Midlands manufacturing and supply chain companies on energy costs, smart energy systems and new global business opportunities.
BCIC West Midlands hold their annual conference at The Exchange on Thursday 12 November, a one-day event that runs from 09:00. It's their flagship day of the year, aimed at manufacturing and supply chain companies across the region, and they've put it together with NGED, Energy Systems Catapult, Smart Energy Systems Cluster and the University of Birmingham. The room will bring together industry leaders, manufacturers, energy experts, policymakers, innovators and supply chain businesses from across the West Midlands to talk about how the region can strengthen its industrial competitiveness by lowering energy costs and speeding up the transition to smarter energy systems.
The morning is dedicated to the strategic side of things. Keynote presentations, expert panels, case studies and interactive workshops will cover energy flexibility, grid balancing, industrial clustering, infrastructure opportunities and funding support, with a particular focus on nuclear, defence and smart energy technologies. The afternoon shifts gears to look at new business opportunities for West Midlands manufacturers in those same markets on a global scale.
On the programme, Matthew Rhodes, Director of BCIC WM, opens with a welcome and introduction. He's followed by Cllr Stephen Simkins, Deputy Mayor of the West Midlands, who delivers a session titled 'How the West Midlands can lead UK reindustrialisation'.
