Album launch show by Basht at The Castle & Falcon, presenting their album 'Poor Advice'.
Basht are playing The Castle & Falcon on Sunday 18 October, an album launch show for their new record Poor Advice. The album came out on 9 October, so the gig arrives just over a week after the release, and it's presented by Jacaranda Records as an intimate launch for the new material.
Basht are a four-piece rock band who built their following on the Dublin club circuit, playing music they describe as a blend of indie, pop, new wave and punk. That mix sits right in the middle of the indie-rock tradition: the melodic hooks of pop and new wave running alongside the rougher edges of punk, all held together by a rock band format. It's the kind of sound that works as well in a small room as it does on a larger stage, and this show is billed as an intimate one.
Because it's an album launch, the set will be built around Poor Advice, and since the record is only a few days old by the time they take the stage, this is one of the first chances to hear it played live. The band's background in the Dublin club scene informs the way they approach a gig, too — they're a live act first and foremost, and this is a show where the songs are the focus.
