Beer talk and tasting with Attic Brew Co and Church End Brewery, celebrating regional craft beer at The Anchor Digbeth.
Attic Brew Co and Church End Brewery are taking over The Anchor Digbeth on Sunday 1 November for a cask and local beer talk and tasting. It's a double-header with two Midlands brewing names in the same room: Stirchley's Attic Brew Co and Warwickshire's Church End Brewery. The session runs across hand-pulled real ale and modern craft beer, and it's timed to mark one year since the pub reopened.
There's plenty to sample. Church End brings What The Fox, Fallen Angel and Gravediggers; Attic puts forward Lighter, Ingot and Clasp. On top of those, there's a special edition Anchor x Attic collaboration beer brewed for the occasion. The talk side of things looks at regional heritage and cellar craft, so you'll get the story behind the brews as well as the tasting.
It's a fitting spot for it. The Anchor Digbeth is an Irish Quarter pub in a terracotta building with a licence dating back to 1797, which reopened in 2025 after being saved from closure. Landlord Peter Connolly describes it as a no-gimmicks, experience-led pub serving pints, cobs and the craic; he's updated the beer garden with olive trees and upholstered The Galway Room, a traditional snug. It's still a renowned home for traditional Irish music, with weekly sessions of local pipe, fiddle, bodhrán and box players, and it houses Spirit of Birmingham, the city's first and only whiskey distillery.
