Pakistani singer-songwriter Atif Aslam performs live at bp pulse LIVE as part of his November tour.
Atif Aslam plays bp pulse LIVE on Friday 13 November, presented by Dembi Production. It's part of his November tour, and the Birmingham date is one of the stops on a run that takes him across the UK.
If you're not familiar with the name, Aslam is a Pakistani musician from Wazirabad, Gujranwala, who came up through Lahore and Rawalpindi. He went to PAF College Lahore, where he played cricket, and studied Computer Science at the Punjab Institute of Computer Science in Lahore. That's where he met guitarist and composer Gohar Mumtaz; together they formed the band Jal, and their song 'Aadat' became a staple of Pakistani radio. After the band split, Aslam went solo with the album Jal Pari and a run of hits like 'Woh Lamhey', 'Dil Haarey' and 'Ankhon se'.
His voice crossed over into India when director Mahesh Bhatt used 'Woh Lamhey' in the 2005 film Zeher, and from there he recorded for several Bollywood films, including Kalyug, Man Push Cart and Bas Ek Pal. He's regarded as one of South Asia's most celebrated singers, and his blend of romantic ballads and energetic live performances has made him a star across the UK and Europe. He's toured widely across Asia, Europe and the Americas, and this Birmingham date is part of that wider reach.
