Ash Sheehan performs Irish classics and party anthems live at the historic Joe Joe Jims venue in South Birmingham.
Ash Sheehan plays Joe Joe Jims on Sunday 18 October, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. It's a Sunday afternoon session, so it's more of a daytime thing than a late one.
If you've come across Sheehan's name around Birmingham and the Black Country, it's probably because he's a multi-instrumentalist who's played a fair few roles. He's a drummer, guitarist and trumpet player, and he's spent time on the touring circuit as drummer for Glenn Hughes — bassist and vocalist for Deep Purple and Black Country Communion. He's also recorded in the studio with Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, and fronted local acts including the indie band The Twang and the garage punk outfit Dead Sea Skulls. On his own, though, he strips things back to emotive vocals and acoustic guitar, working through a repertoire of Irish classics and party-favourite anthems.
Joe Joe Jims is a live music venue and bar in South Birmingham, at the foot of the Lickey Hills, and it dates back to 1920. It's dog-friendly, and the JJJ Kitchen does handmade artisan pizzas alongside retro arcade and video games like penny pushers and Sega Rally. If you've already got a ticket for the Friday or Saturday gig that weekend, you can join this Sunday afternoon session free of charge, subject to capacity.
