A late-night chamber music concert by the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group featuring the work 'Strange Loops' by Anna Clyne.
Birmingham Contemporary Music Group are taking over Symphony Hall on Wednesday 17 March for a late-night concert of chamber music by Anna Clyne. The main piece of the night is Strange Loops, which runs about 17 minutes.
Clyne is the CBSO Composer in Residence, and the evening is framed as an intimate, late-night portrait of her chamber music, with the audience at close quarters. The full programme runs about 45 minutes with no interval, so it's a single stretch of music rather than a long night. No ticket is required to attend.
BCMG has been making new music since 1987 and is led by Artistic Director Stephan Meier. The conductor for the night, Kazuki Yamada, is himself a BCMG musician, so the group is led from within. The whole thing is presented by BCMG, who have spent nearly four decades working with contemporary composers.
