A comedy show about wine at Alfresco at Alfred Works in Birmingham, where guests sample five varietals while the stand-up unfolds.
An Idiot's Guide to Wine comes to Alfresco at Alfred Works on Saturday 14 November, with two shows that day at 3pm and 8pm. It's an Australian sensation brought to Birmingham and performed live in English by local comedians, with material written by Merrick Watts, who's billed as the world's only WSET Level 3 comedian. The show is produced by Fever and developed by Grapes of Mirth.
The whole thing is pitched as the least pretentious way to learn about wine: a no-judgment zone where you sample five varietals from around the world while the stand-up unfolds, the conversation moving as the tasting does. It's an adults' night out whether you come with friends, a date or simply your own curiosity, and it's strictly for over-18s.
The venue, Alfresco at Alfred Works, sits inside part of the iconic Custard Factory and blends industrial heritage with culinary innovation, serving as a home for live gigs, workshops, pop-ups and themed nights. It's at 9-13 Floodgate St, Deritend, B5 5ST.
