Cabaret tribute to Kate Bush created by Sarah-Louise Young and Russell Lucas, playing the extended edition with 'Running Up That Hill' and 'Cloudbusting'.
An Evening Without Kate Bush comes to The Studio at Birmingham Rep on Friday 19 February, with a second performance on Saturday 20 February. It's a cult cabaret created by Sarah-Louise Young and Russell Lucas, and the title is the whole point: Kate Bush herself isn't in it. Instead, the evening is built around her music, the fans, and the mythology of one of British pop's most influential voices.
This is the extended edition of the show, and it plays the big ones: 'Running Up That Hill', 'Cloudbusting', and 'The Man With The Child In His Eyes' are all in the set. It runs about an hour and 50 minutes with an interval, and the age guidance is 12+, with no under-5s admitted to the auditorium.
Young and Lucas first put this together as a cabaret, and it's since toured from Edinburgh to Australia. It picked up Best Cabaret at the Adelaide Fringe 2025, so it's arrived here with some decent credentials behind it. The stage version leans into the paradox of the title—the music is the focus, but the woman who wrote it is the one thing missing from the room.
