Live gig by Scottish band Admiral Fallow with support from Luca Simian at The Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
Admiral Fallow play The Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath on Wednesday 21 October, with Luca Simian opening the night. It's a mid-week one, so if you're heading in from across the city, it's worth keeping the date in mind rather than leaving it until the day.
For those who haven't come across them, Admiral Fallow are a Scottish band who've been around since 2007, when they first started out under the name Brother Louis Collective. They describe their own sound as an eclectic brew of folk, chamber pop, hushed lullabies and post-rock — and that's a fair summary of what they do. The folk side brings the acoustic warmth, the chamber pop adds a bit of orchestral arrangement, and the post-rock pulls it all towards something wider and more atmospheric. The lullabies part is the quietest end of that, the sort of thing that sits comfortably alongside the more expansive moments.
It's a wide net to cast, and that's exactly where the appeal is. You get the folk and the pop working together, and the post-rock stretching things out, with the lullabies keeping it grounded. It's a sound that doesn't stick to one lane, so it's a good bet if you're into music that shifts gears rather than staying in one place. Luca Simian takes the opening slot, so you'll get two acts in one evening.
