Six-week creative writing workshop with Aoibh Clarke, open to all levels, held on Wednesdays at The Duncairn in Belfast's Cultural Quarter.
Aoibh Clarke is running a six-week creative writing workshop at The Duncairn, starting Wednesday 4 November and running through to Wednesday 9 December. It's open to all levels, so you don't need any previous experience to join in.
Clarke describes her workshops as person-led and shaped by the needs and interests of the people in the room, rather than following a set syllabus. She works across genres — from writing your first play to short stories and poetry — and sets out to create a safe, shared space for creative expression. On the process itself, she says that while there are strategies and tips to get the writing moving, the real magic happens when people are given structure, space to explore and the chance to try things out without fear.
The course is held at The Duncairn, which has been putting arts at the heart of North Belfast since 2014. It sits in the city's Cultural Quarter and runs a wide range of workshops and classes in Irish language, sewing, painting, ceramics, printing and textile art.
