Hands-on workshop with community herbalist Leasha Hogan to make herbal remedies and a winter care pack from local plants.
Leasha Hogan is running a winter wellness workshop at The Duncairn on Saturday 7 November, from 10:00 to 12:00. It's a morning spent making herbal remedies from local plants and herbs, and you leave with your own herbal care pack to take home.
That care pack is the main thing you'll be working on throughout the session. It's a collection of winter remedies you make yourself: immune-boosting tonics, cold-fighting teas, and a few other useful things to keep you going through the colder months. All the materials are provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you except a notepad and pen if you want to jot things down as you go.
Leasha Hogan leads the session; she's a community herbalist at Grá Fiánta Herbal. The workshop is about showing how to make these kinds of remedies from local plants, so it's as much about what's growing around us as it is about the making itself.

It's held at The Duncairn Arts Centre in North Belfast, which has been putting arts at the heart of the area since 2014. It's grown into a hub in the city's Cultural Quarter, working as an arts centre, concert venue, theatre space and art gallery all in one. Much of its programme is built around hands-on learning, with classes and workshops running from Irish language and sewing to painting, ceramics, printing, textile art, seed saving and scything, alongside live folk, acoustic and traditional Irish music nights. This workshop fits right into that side of things. The session runs from 10:00 to 12:00 on Saturday 7 November, and it costs £18 with all materials included.
