Intimate, stripped-back tribute concert in which Jesca Hoop and Lail Arad, with special guest Wallis Bird, cover their favourite Joni Mitchell songs.
The Songs of Joni Mitchell comes to The MAC on Thursday 29 October, as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival. It's a tribute to Joni Mitchell, put together by singer-songwriter Lail Arad to mark Mitchell's 80th birthday. Since then it's toured to acclaim, following a debut at the Roundhouse, sold-out tours and a film of its Paris show that aired on Arte TV.
On the night, Jesca Hoop and Lail Arad — both acclaimed songwriters in their own right — perform intimate, stripped-back interpretations of their favourite Mitchell songs. They're joined by special guest Wallis Bird and pianist Richard Sears. The trio also released a companion EP, The Songs Of Joni Mitchell Vol. 1, ahead of their last tour. Critics have called the show a 'spectacular multi-artist re-casting of Joni Mitchell's work'.
