The 30th anniversary touring production of Simon Beaufoy's stage play, about a group of unemployed men who try to win back their dignity.
The Full Monty comes to the Grand Opera House from Tuesday 13 April to Saturday 17 April 2027, as part of a major national tour marking 30 years since the original film. It's a stage adaptation of the 1997 British movie about unemployed steelworkers in Sheffield, written by Academy Award winner Simon Beaufoy, who also wrote the screenplay. The play lets the characters and their relationships take centre stage, and this anniversary production is described as fast, funny and still very much of our time.
The story follows a group of ordinary men thrown on the scrap heap who decide to fight back and bare more than they ever thought they would have to in search of dignity and pride. There are no heroes here, just friendship and the courage to show up as you are. It's a production presented by The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham and Buxton Opera House in association with Mark Goucher and David Pugh, and it's recommended for ages 14+.
The cast brings together six roles: Kevin Clifton as Gaz, Stewart Wright as Dave, James Gaddas as Gerald, Ben Onwukwe as Horse, Jon-Paul Bell as Guy and Zrey Sholapurkar as Lomper. With the film's 30th anniversary as the occasion, it's a touring production that takes the Sheffield story on the road.
