Non-professional production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical about a young woman searching for love in New York, with Emma Kelly as the Girl.
Tell Me on a Sunday runs at The Studio, Grand Opera House from Thursday 22 October to Saturday 24 October, with matinees at 2:30pm and evening shows at 7:30pm. It's a non-professional production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, and Emma Kelly takes the lead as the Girl.
The show follows a free-spirited young English woman newly arrived in New York, brimming with optimism and searching for success, companionship and love. As she weaves through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches, she begins to wonder whether she's been looking for love in all the wrong places. It's a one-woman show, so the whole thing rests on the lead's shoulders.
Lloyd Webber wrote the music, with a book by Don Black and lyrics by Black and Jackie Clune. It was originally written for television and starred Marti Webb, and has since been revived by Denise Van Outen and Jodie Prenger. The score includes hits like 'Tell Me On A Sunday', 'Nothing Like You've Ever Known' and 'Take That Look Off Your Face'. This production is described as heartfelt, funny and deeply relatable, and it runs an hour and ten minutes with no interval, so you're in and out in a single sitting. It's recommended for ages 13 and over.
