Annual festival celebrating Belfast's diverse music scene, with live music, EP launches, jazz kissa sessions, a music walking tour and the Northern Ireland Music Prize at Ulster Hall.
Sound of Belfast returns from 5 to 15 November, eleven days of music spread across venues throughout the city. It's curated by Oh Yeah, the music hub on the Cathedral Quarter, and it's the city's annual celebration of its musical landscape. Belfast is the only designated UNESCO City of Music on the island, and the festival is built around that title.
The range is wide: gospel, garage rock, electronic, and rap all sit under the same umbrella. It leans on collaboration, partnerships and specially curated events to showcase the music community here. The programme typically mixes new releases and EP launches with exhibitions, jazz kissa sessions and a music walking tour that gathers anecdotes about Van Morrison, Gary Lightbody, Snow Patrol, James Galway and Ruby Murray. The Northern Ireland Music Prize is the festival's flagship night, with the award presented at Ulster Hall.

Because it's spread across different venues rather than held in one place, you'll find it in a few different corners of the city over the eleven days. The full programme for this edition hasn't been confirmed yet, so keep an eye on the official site for the specific dates and lineups as they come out.
