Multi-award-winning comedy musical in which five maids play every part in Jane Austen's love story, with pop classics.
Pride & Prejudice (Sort of) opens at the Grand Opera House on Tuesday 20 October, running through to Saturday 24 October. It's a comedy musical retelling of Jane Austen's love story, and it comes to Belfast from the West End.
The twist is in the title: the story is handed over to five maids, who play every part. The men, the money and the microphones are left to them, so they're the ones doing the heavy lifting throughout. It's a multi-award-winning adaptation, picking up the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy and an Evening Standard Award during its West End run. Critics have called it 'riotously funny' and 'raucously irreverent', with one adding that 'Austen would have loved this smart, laugh-out-loud show'.
It's a musical, and the songs are pop classics rather than original numbers. You'll hear 'Young Hearts Run Free', 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow' and 'You're So Vain' woven into the retelling. It's recommended for ages 12 and over, so it works as a night out with friends or something to take the family along to.
