Halloween film night screening of 'Poltergeist' with a craft-led introduction from SFX make-up artist David McAneaney, as a double bill with 'The Woman in Black'.
Poltergeist is coming to Cahoots NI on Monday 26 October, part of a Halloween film night that does a bit more than just press play. Before the movie starts, SFX make-up and prosthetics artist David McAneaney takes the stage for a craft-led introduction, where he pulls back the curtain on the gruesome, skin-crawling secrets behind Hollywood's most iconic paranormal illusions. If you've ever wondered how the more unsettling effects in these kinds of films actually come together, that's the bit to pay attention to.
The film itself is Poltergeist, the 1982 classic that turns a suburban home into a haunted house, and it's paired as a double bill with The Woman in Black. That one follows Arthur Kipps, a grieving lawyer who travels to a remote, hostile village to settle a deceased client's isolated estate, only to find the town haunted by a vengeful ghost whose appearances signal the mysterious deaths of local children. You can catch them both in one go, and there's a double ticket available if you want to do the full pairing.
