A calmer visit to the W5 science museum with lowered exhibit volume, limited admissions and a social story for visitors who prefer a quieter setting.
W5 is holding another Quiet Session on Sunday 15 November, from 10am to 12pm. It's a dedicated morning for anyone who'd prefer a calmer environment — visitors with sensory sensitivities, disabilities, additional needs, or health conditions, but also just anyone who finds the usual museum buzz a bit much. You don't need a diagnosis or any proof of a condition to come along.
During the session, the museum turns down the volume of the exhibits and limits admissions to keep the atmosphere quiet. They also put out a social story ahead of time, so you can see what to expect before you even step through the door. If things get a bit too much while you're there, a Quiet Room and a First Aid Room are both on hand, and hand sanitiser is provided. The Lost Planet soft activity zone opens up at no extra cost, too.

Carers and essential aids are welcome, and carers go free with a full-paying child on proof of carer status. If you're stopping for a break, there's a visual coffee menu available at the Coffee Lab. Pre-booking is essential, so you'll need to sort your spot in advance rather than turning up on the day.
