Award-winning Broadway musical comedy whodunit in which two actors play thirteen characters and the piano, presented by Bruiser Theatre Company.
Bruiser Theatre Company are bringing Murder for Two to the Lyric Theatre Naughton Studio in Belfast, running from Thursday 15 April to Sunday 2 May 2027. The first night is a preview on the 15th, with press night following on the 16th. It's a Broadway musical comedy that plays out as a high-energy whodunit: the famous novelist Arthur Whitney is found dead at his own birthday party, and neighbourhood cop Officer Marcus Moscowicz has to solve the crime before the real detective arrives. The whole thing runs an hour and forty minutes with no interval, so you're in and out in one go.
What makes it a bit of a trick is the cast: just two actors play thirteen characters and the piano, switching roles on the fly. The show is billed as a loving homage to the canon of murder mystery plays, and critics have called it 'hectic, laugh-a-minute' and 'Agatha Christie on speed'. Rob Gathercole plays Marcus Moscowicz, and the book and music are by Joe Kinosian, with book and lyrics by Kellen Blair. Lisa May directs.

Bruiser is Northern Ireland's only self-producing theatre company, and this production is supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council. After the Belfast run, the show continues on tour: it's at the Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey on 6 May at 7:45pm, and then at An TΓ‘in Arts Centre in Dundalk on 13 May at 8:00pm. Both of those are also an hour and forty minutes with no interval, so the timing stays the same across the board.
