High-energy Broadway musical murder-mystery whodunit in which two actors play thirteen characters and play the piano.
Murder for Two comes to the Lyric Theatre in Belfast this spring, with previews starting on 15 April and press night on 16 April. It's a Broadway musical comedy from Bruiser Theatre Company, and the whole thing is built around a pretty wild premise: just two actors playing thirteen different characters, and they accompany themselves on the piano as they go.
The plot is a classic whodunit. The famous novelist Arthur Whitney is found dead at his own birthday party, and it's up to the local cop, Officer Marcus Moscowicz, to solve the crime before the real detective arrives on the scene. It's billed as a loving homage to the canon of murder mystery plays, and the descriptions don't hold back β it's been called 'Agatha Christie on speed', gloriously silly, devilishly clever, and fantastically funny, with standing ovations along the way.
Behind the scenes, the book and music are by Joe Kinosian, with Kellen Blair on book and lyrics. Rob Gathercole takes on the role of Marcus Moscowicz, and the production is directed by Lisa May, with Matthew Reeve as musical director and Jennifer Rooney on choreography. It's not just a Belfast run, either; the show also tours to the Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey and An TΓ‘in Arts Centre in Dundalk in May 2027.

On the practical side, it's playing in the Lyric's Naughton Studio, and the run runs through to 15 May, when the show is an hour and 40 minutes long with no interval. Tickets are Β£16 to Β£25.
